Yahoo Messenger: The first real global messaging app shuts down!
As you may know, Yahoo Messenger was launched by the Standford graduates Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1998. At that time, this app was the most used services which provided an alternative solution to time-consuming email and short message services (SMS). In details, this app was first launched in 1998 under the name Yahoo Pager, and it was renamed Yahoo Messenger in 1998.
In addition, there was an older version of this app which was shut down in August 2018. Meanwhile, the version of Messenger which shuts down in July was launched in December 2015. Last year, Verizon bought this app for nearly $4.5 billion. However, the users still download their chat history. According to the reports, users might have six months to download their chat history.
For the direction, users go to the downloader request site, singing in, select a verification method and then enter the Account Key. After that, you click download and enter the email where the chat history might be sent. Overall, users can check the chat history on email. Besides, here are four social networking sites that couldn’t get enough popularity and eventually became obsolete: Hi5, My Space, Orkut, and Google Buzz.
