Previously, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 was launched in China on the 10th of May. According to the previous report, it seems that the Redmi S2 would remain a China-exclusive. However, that assumption has not held true until today. In details, the company has confirmed a June 7th launch event for the Indian market to meet the Redmi S2 soon next month. As the invite highlights, the launched Redmi S2 smartphone will be the camera-centric device. On the other hand, Xiaomi’s Redmi Y series is all about the front-facing camera in the Indian market. As a result, the Redmi S2 launches as the Redmi Y2 in India. If the news is legit, the Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2) would be the excellent successor of the Redmi Y1 that previously launched in November 2017.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi S2 specs include a 5.99 inch IPS LCD with a 1440 x 720 pixels as resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the Redmi S2 runs on the Snapdragon 625 chipset, coupled with either 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card). Also, Xiaomi device runs Android 8 Oreo out of the box with MIUI 9 on top. Also, the device gets a 3080 mAh battery. Moreover, Xiaomi Redmi S2 camera includes a 12MP+5MP camera. On the front, there is a 16MP AI-powered snapper.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi S2 on May 10th, 2018 and would be available for Indian market on June 7th, 2018. As for the cost, the Redmi S2 price starts at $160 ~ Rs. 10, 781 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB.
