Another Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer new version has appeared online with a smaller notch on the design. Besides, the new version of this flagship is likely to equip the under-display fingerprint scanner. Keep on reading to learn more!
Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer new version with smaller notch
As you may know, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer is the premium phone in the series. With its attractive translucent back, the flagship also comes with a 3D face scanner and an under display fingerprint reader. However, TENAA reveals that there may be a more affordable version in the works. Though TENAA had not posted the photos at that point, they certainly add a new dimension to the rumours.
According to what we witnessed, the design looks similar, but the notch on the front is noticeably narrower. Besides, the selfie camera is right next to the earpiece. Meanwhile, chances are the 3D face scanner is gone, as well as the IR face recognition system of the base Mi 8. However, since there is no rear-mounted fingerprint reader, we can assume that is still under the display. Also, we could not even see the headphone jack, too.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer new version specs include three RAM configurations: 4GB, and 8GB, paired with 64GB and 256GB storage respectively. This differs from the warehouse and RAM figures of Mi 8 EE (6GB RAM/128GB ROM). Meanwhile, the screen seems to be the same at 6.21” AMOLED with 1080p+. Besides, the chipset (Snapdragon 845) and the camera (back: dual 12MP, front: single 20MP) may not experience any changes. Moreover, the battery is a 2,900mAh pack compared to the Mi 8 Explorer’s 3,000mAh cell. Also, it suggests that the device lacks advanced facial recognition tech.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer new version release date and price
We can expect the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer new version price to be between the Mi 8 Explorer ($530) and the regular Mi 8 ($395). Let’s see when we meet the new version in the next quarter. Meanwhile, let us know with your ideas below and stay tuned!
