Everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming Wonder Woman 2
After the massive success of the first movie, Wonder Woman 2 has earned enormous anticipation from fans all over the world. Let’s check out what the second sequel has to offer!
Everything you need to know ahead of the sequel
First of all, every action movies need a great villain, and this sequel has no exception. Although very few details about the film have been released, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins confirmed on March 9 that comedy star Kristen Wiig has signed on to play the film’s newest villain, Cheetah. So who is Cheetah and what is her background? Let’s go way back to the original Cheetah, who appeared in the 1943 version of Wonder Woman. She was an associate of Diana’s until she became jealous of Wonder Woman and turned into an enemy. Secondly, the sequel will be set in 1984.
According to a tweet from Patty Jenkins in June, it sounds like the film will go with the title ‘Wonder Woman 1984’. Thus, placing the timeline during the Cold War but with the U.S setting. This would be interesting to see how the directors/producers will portray it. Next, it is obvious that all the main characters (Gal Gadot, Patty Jenkins, and Chris Pine) will return in the sequel. After a breakout role in the first film, Gadot has signed on to reprise the role of the titular character. Furthermore, the director revealed that Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) would make a comeback in Wonder Woman 2 as well.
Didn’t he die in the first movie? You’ll remember that he sacrificed himself in order to prevent Doctor Poison’s gas from spreading throughout the battlefield. Jenkins told ELLE.com that Pine’s character definitely didn’t absorb any magical powers in Themyscira. So it looked like he really was dead and the situation is indeed frustrating. We’ll probably have to wait until the Wonder Woman 2 comes out to learn the truth.
