Treasure Tag: Nokia’s new feature that helps locate your lost items
Nokia is about to launch a brand new Bluetooth-based proximity sensor called Lumia Treasure Tag. It can help you keep an eye on your easy-to-lose items. Take a look at this technology!
Lumia Treasure Tag: Locating your lost items
Nokia is going to introduce a brand new accessory called Treasure Tag. If you have any items that are likely to get lost such as your keys, your wallet, your earphones; attach this accessory to those items and then you can locate them via an application. This application will be featured in the next Lumia phone, which is expected to be released later this year.
Don’t you find it familiar? If not, here’s a little reminder for you: this technology has been featured in Tile – a small startup that earned $2.7 million for selling its $25 quarter-sized Bluetooth-based device that helps locating lost items. This device is accompanied by an application which is only found in iOs system. Back to Treasure Tag, this accessory will only be available in Windows store.
So how does Treasure Tag works? This accessory works based on a combination of near field communication technology and Bluetooth Low Energy. Via the application, users will be able to use the map to locate the sensor (the accessory) and the item it goes along with. What is more useful is that the sensor can be used to locate the phone backwards. All you have to do is pressing a key on the sensor and your phone will notify you with a sound, as long as your phone is within 160 feet.
Lumia Treasure Tag: Price and Availability
As mentioned above, this technology will be released along with the next Windows phone of Nokia, and hopefully it will be at the end of this year. As for Treasure Tag price, we bet that this device will be no longer than $50, because noone is willing to pay more than $50 for such locating accessory.
