But with this new and improved version, the company has increased its focus on light isolation.

After all, the greater the amount of light that is captured by pixels, the better the image quality in low-light conditions. With a new material that Samsung has jointly developed with Fujifilm, it helps to replace the metal inside current-generation sensors; and reduce light leaks. In fact, the brand claims it can now produce sensors that are 15% more sensitive to light. Meanwhile, it continues using pixels of up to 0.8 micrometres in size.

This means the company can effectively obtain much better results without needing to increase the overall space occupied by the sensors. Following up on this news, Samsung plans to show off demo versions of the new camera tech at the Shanghai Mobile World Congress event in the next few days.

It’s certainly that Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy Note 9 earlier this year compared to the Galaxy Note 8. The FCCn has just posted a listing for a new Samsung phone with the model number SM-N960F. Furthermore, that number is similar to previous model numbers in the Note series, such as SM-N950 for the Note 8 and SM-N930 for the Galaxy Note 7. Previously, the Galaxy Note 8 was listed on the FCC certification site in July 2017.

So the appearance of this new phone on June 25 would indicate that the Galaxy Note 9 is going to arrive a bit earlier than the Note 8 did last year. Besides, rumours have also claimed the phone could make its official debut during a company’s press event in New York City on August 9. However, some may think that the stock Android face unlock is more convenient than the iris scanner.

Now back to the point, by removing the scanner, the Korean giant will save on some buck and will instead invest in a new 3D facial recognition technology. Reportedly, Samsung is in the works with Mantis Vision firm to develop the needed tech. What’s more interesting is that the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will offer an in-display fingerprint reader as an alternative biometric security feature.
