Samsung vs Xiaomi: The battle has come to an end!

It looks like the success of a smartphone brand does not only depend on how powerful their products are. Let’s compare two big names: Samsung vs Xiaomi to see which one is the winner of 2016!

Samsung vs Xiaomi: High-end vs Budget

Back to 2013, when Xiaomi started to become the front-runner in the smartphone industry, everybody could see that if they compare two phones with the same price, Samsung vs Xiaomi, the one from China would “kill” the one from Korea in terms of specification! Samsung, with the failure of Galaxy S5, was really desperate at that time because Xiaomi had ruled the budget segment.

At that time, many people were surprised that Samsung didn’t show any effort in taking back the budget segment by producing budget-friendly devices. They even thought Samsung had given up. But now, in 2016, it seems that Samsung has made a right decision! According to the latest financial analysis, after only 18 months, Xiaomi’s market value has dramatically fallen from 45 billion US to 3.6 billion USD! Meanwhile, in Q3 of 2016, Samsung has profited 3.82 billion USD – enough to take over Xiaomi completely!

Samsung vs Xiaomi: What is the reason behind?

So why and how did Samsung recover so rapidly? The answer is: Budget segment is never a wise investment in the long-term. Xiaomi did win in the first place, but then when countless brands started to attack the budget segment, Xiaomi has lost its customers! On the other hand, the high-end segment is the most beneficial one. Look at Apple! Their products are NEVER budget-friendly but they still gain billions of USD per year. Samsung has made a right decision not to follow the budget “trend”.

Instead, Samsung has invested a massive amount of money in the chipset and new technology. And now we see Exynos chipset and curved display, which are Samsung’s signature. The latest Samsung Galaxy Note , though packing the same processor as S7, still becomes best seller thanks to its Iris scanner and waterproof S-pen. Now look at Xiaomi products! All of them, besides the unnecessarily good specs, have nothing special. Remember that users buy smartphones not only because of the specs (in fact, many of them don’t even understand the specs) but also to have something to… show off! Too bad that with Xiaomi phones, they cannot find anything to be proud of.

Samsung S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance: 4GB RAM, 23MP camera

Besides Galaxy Note 7, the S7 Edge is also among of hottest Samsung made ever. So, let’s put this phone in comparison with another flagship from Sony. Who will be the winner in Samsung S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance?

S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance : flagship battle

Samsung S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance: Specs fight!

S7 Edge or Xperia X Performance: which is the stronger phone? The Samsung S7 Edge comes to this battle with a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. This phone also has another version with a different processor: 2.3GHz Octa-core Exynos 8890. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia X Performance is powered by SnapDragon 820 processor too, but it bases on 2.15 GHz Quad-core. Most importantly, Samsung S7 Edge gets 4GB RAM while that is 3GB RAM on the Sony phone. So, with same SND 820 chipset, Samsung S7 Edge has the faster processor and bigger RAM!

Now, let’s talk about the camera. Samsung S7 Edge presents 12MP on the rear with phase detection, Autofocus, OIS, and LED flash. This camera is more wonderful when to support 4K video recording. On the other hands, Sony Xperia X Performance comes with a bigger 23MP main camera, with the same supportive functions. The front camera of this Sony phone is still better, with 8MP resolution, comparing to 5MP on S7 Edge. So, Sony Xperia X Performance is clearly the winner in the camera battle!

S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance : flagship battle

In terms of the other specs, the Samsung phone continue winning over its rival! The S7 Edge flaunts a 5.5-inch 2K screen while Sony Xperia X Performance gets a 5.0-inch screen at fullHD resolution. The S7 Edge battery is 3600 mAH while that is 2700 mAH on the Sony phone. Especially, S7 Edge serves a huge 256GB ROM while Sony Xperia X Performance presents just 32GB.

Samsung S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance: Price

To be one of the top-end smartphones, Samsung S7 Edge comes at Rs. 50, 990 ($760). Meanwhile, Sony Xperia X Performance price is Rs. 49, 990 ($745). So, with bigger RAM, bigger display, stronger processor, and a larger battery, Samsung S7 Edge is the winner in S7 Edge vs Xperia X Performance. But if you are a photography lover, the Sony phone is still a great choice, when its price isn’t too far from S7 Edge price.

Samsung Note 7 is the hottest name at the present. You can see it everywhere. Not only does it have such a great design but it also has so many interesting functions and cool tricks. Here are 8 of them for you to try out.

best secured smartphones

1. Changing the display content: Note 7 specialty

Android devices have different sizes of displays. But a bigger screen does not mean you will have more information showcased, yet only the font is bigger. This may be convenient for those who had bad eye sights. But to many others, we are not so sure that it would help. Now, with Samsung Note 7, users are now able to customize their display setting.

Samsung Note 7 allows users to change the amount of information on the screen. All you need to do is to go in your setting, then tap in display catalog. Choose the “Condensed” option after choosing Display Scaling. You can also change back by the “Standard” option staying the same place with “Condensed” option. So cool, huh?

2. Receiving gifts through Galaxy Gifts

Samsung phones tend to have a default app named Galaxy Gift. Through this app, you will know a lot of helpful information from Samsung’s partners. To be more specific, this app will send you information about discounts and promotions of hotels, fashion brands, movie theaters, etc.

3. Type-C connector and cable

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 packs with standard type-C USB, which is a latest and hottest trend at the moment. Unfortunately, not all accessories are made to adapt this very new trend. Understanding this, Samsung gives their buyers a free portal which will help to easily connect the tradition USB and the new Type-C USB.

4. “Always on” Mode: making it convenient always

Even though “Always on” Mode has been around for a while, it’s rated not excellent enough to win people’s hearts. Still, Samsung wants to bring this feature to a whole new level. Therefore, they have made a big improvement of “Always on” Mode. You now can draw, note faster and are supported by the third-party application. To use this, choose Setting>Display>Always On.

5. Blue light filter: keep your eyes safe

Blue light is really harmful to your eyes, especially when you use your phone often at night. In order to protect our eyes, Samsung now has the blue light filter on their phone. This function will protect your eyes and help you sleep easier. You can turn this mode on by access Setting>Display>Blue light filter. And Note 7 users won’t have to worry about their eyes being harmed anymore.

6. One Hand Mode: very portable trick

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has quite a big screen, which is a great advantage. But it’s really hard to use on one hand for people who have smaller hands. Samsung has programmed a one hand mode that allows you to decrease the display size and increase your convenience. Just choose Advanced Function in Setting. Then choose One-hand function.

7. Fast content delete: a unique Note 7 trick

If this is the first time that you use a Note variant, this function will be a cool trick for you. Notice your S-pen and you will see a long small button which plays as an eraser when you press it. It is super convenient and time-saving when you draw or write anything on the screen.

Note 7

8. Note 7 trick: Radio FM

FM tuning ability is integrated on the chipset, since Note 7 is equipped with Snapdragon 820. However, there are no apps coming with the products to support this. So, those who love FM Radio may need to install third-party applications to use this function. One of the suggestions we have is NextRadio on Google Play.

And of course, new iPhone is always better than the old one. Especially, iPhone 7 this year will come with many great features like Lightning or optical zoom features.

Though this phone is said to have no difference comparing to its predecessor and it’s not worth waiting for, it is still one of the most awaited devices this year. So, instead of buying iPhone this time, why don’t you wait a little longer. And then after the launch date, you can decide which line of iPhone you want to buy.

buying iPhone

The second reason is the price. After iPhone this year is launched, the company will discount the previous iPhone models. Even though this amount is not much, it still helps you save your money. Buying iPhone: why must hurry?

Lastly, there are more and more Android smartphones in the market. And those devices are very powerful. For instance, Samsung has just released its new flagship Note 7 to the market. In the near future, more great handsets will come out: LG V20, new Nexus, Xperia X2, etc. And those phones have the similar prices to iPhone, even cheaper. So, why must you hurry to buy an iPhone?

Smartphone market Q2 2016: Android and iOS dominate, Samsung top

A recent report has revealed the shares of brands in the smartphone market Q2 2016, with some really interesting results. The report was made by Gartner, a specialist in tech review.

smartphone market q2 2016

Smartphone market Q2 2016: Total domination from Android and iOS

According to this report of smartphone market Q2 2016, in this year’s second quarter, a total of 296 million Android smartphones has been delivered, making up 86.2% of total market share. The number of iPhones lagged behind a lot, with about 44 million units delivered, taking 12.9%. So, both Android and iOS make up of 99.1% of the market! Meanwhile, only 0.6% goes to Windows only, 0.1% for BlackBerry. The rest belongs to other systems. A total domination of Android and iOS!

Gartner also noted in the smartphone Q2 2016 report that revenue of high-end smartphones has reduced in this quarter, due to user’s anticipation for new models released in the latter half of the year. And rightly so: there are a lot of new flagships coming towards the end of this year! About feature phones, there is a drop of 14% compared to last year. All of the big markets have a general drop of 4.9%, except for Japan. On the other hand, rising markets, except Latin America, have recorded growth of 9.9%.

smartphone market q2 2016

Smartphone market Q2 2016: Samsung on top

In this smartphone market Q2 2016 report, Samsung has displayed dominance over their competition during the period. With market shares of 10% more than Apple, who is in second place, Samsung has firmly established the title of largest smartphone manufacturer. Thanks to the A and J series of smartphones, Samsung managed to compete with Chinese manufacturers with their strong but cheaper smartphones, even gain control of some lost markets.

Apple, on the other hand, has experienced three consecutive quarter of slowing down demands, as sales declined 7.7% in Q2 of 2016, even in North America, their biggest market, as well as China, Western Europe, and some Asia-Pacific areas. This is truly alarming for Apple; hopefully, their future products can do something about that! Overall, only 5 of the top 10 vendors showed growth, including South Korea’s Samsung and 4 Chinese manufacturers (Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi and BBK Communication Equipment), where Oppo had the biggest growth of 129%! That’s the whole smartphone market Q2 2016’s picture.

Samsung steals idea from Motorola for their Galaxy Note 7?

At Galaxy Note 7 release date, the Korean company is suggested to steal the idea from Motorola for this Note. So, is it true that Samsung steals the cool feature from Motorola phones?

Samsung steals

Samsung steals Always On display of Note 7 from Motorola?

Galaxy Note 7 – a dreamer’s device – has just created a fever in the last couple weeks. With stunning dual-curved screen design and powerful specs, this phone is one of a kind. Not even mention that this new Samsung flagship has some unique and cool features. Iris scanner, dust+water proof, and Always On display are some examples. Everyone is so excited for the day this handset is available in the market. Galaxy Note 7 release date was on 19th August.

However, it seems like that the release date of this Note is not so smooth. Right before Galaxy Note 7 was released, Motorola had said that Samsung steals their idea. This brand posted on the Twitter with the hashtag of #TheOriginalAlwaysOnDisplay and #motozdroid. The company claimed that the Korean giant stole the cool feature-Always On display from them. Along with the status is a picture of their Moto Z.

Samsung steals

This is kinda weird. Because Note 7 is not the first Samsung device to sport this feature. Always On display used to be equipped on the couple Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. However, this feature is not stand out on these two handsets. It’s not until Note was “born” that this cool feature is hugely improved.

Always On display is not originally from Motorola

And if you don’t remember, we’ll remind you. Always On display is not the original feature from Motorola. This kind of feature used to be seen on Nokia handset- MeeGo-based N9 or Nokia N8. After that, the feature was developed with the name of Glance Screen. Motorola is just the first brand to released an Android phone having Always On display, or Active Display. So, it’s not true to say that Samsung steals Always On display from Motorola.
