Huawei Kirin 1020 chipset to be twice as powerful as the Kirin 970!
After the Kirin 970 launched last year, the company is already preparing the release of the latest addition Huawei Kirin 1020! They said that this next-gen chipset will be two times more powerful. Keep reading for more!
Huawei Kirin 1020 chipset
Undoubtedly, Huawei is one of the biggest manufacturers in the world. Thus, the company needs to become less reliant hardware produced outside the company. This should help bring the cost of devices down and maybe try to compete with Qualcomm’s dominance in the mobile market. With its newest HiSilicon 970 chipset, the company gets closer to Qualcomm’s top line up. But still, the Kirin 970 isn’t on par with the Snapdragon 845 in terms of performance; although it brought world’s first AI chip on board.
Huawei clearly knows that and as a result, Kirin 1020 was born. Just wait until you hear what this chipset is capable of. According to our sources, the Chinese giant is preparing to launch an impressive Kirin 1020 chip that should offer double the performance of the Kirin 970. However, that is all we have known so far. So in the meantime, let’s look at the Kirin 970 processor again. Based on the image on Chinese media, Kirin 970 system-on-chip outscored the Snapdragon 845 in some synthetic benchmarks by approximately 7%.
However, the difference between two chipsets isn’t significant. The Benchmarks test score only shows some individual tests and not the average result of extensive scale. Moreover, the synthetic benchmark scores are hardly suggestive of real performance, particularly in the context of such small borders. Learn more about the handsets that ship with Kirin 970 chip underhood HERE!
Huawei Kirin 1020 chipset release date
Unfortunately, no other specifics were disclosed but the source claims that once the first 5G network launches, Huawei will be ready with the Kirin 1020’s mass production and the chipset will appear on company’s devices soon after. Stay tuned with us for further updates!
Huawei filed a patent for a new bezel-less smartphone design
Back in February, Huawei has filed a patent for a bezel-less smartphone design with an extremely high screen-to-body ratio. Perhaps we are going to see the debut of this model soon. Keep reading for more details!
Huawei got a patent for bezel-less smartphone design
Until now, the P20 series represents the closest Huawei has gotten to a bezel-less design. Nevertheless, the company is still aiming to improve and innovate its design and technology. Thus, Huawei filed a patent for a bezel-less smartphone design not long ago. The patent in question, which goes way back in February, describes a unique build process that would avoid any unnecessary side bezels.
Instead of using the typical device frames on current smartphones, the Chinese company would start off the overall build with the rear panel, which accommodates the display. Once doing so, the display would be on top of the panel and get sealed down with adhesive. Then it would stay in between two metal strips on either side, which ultimately replace current smartphone frames. As a result, there is an extremely high screen-to-body ratio.
In addition to the design advantages, Huawei notes that the process won’t bring any compromises either. In fact, due to the use of high-quality adhesives, smartphones can continue to be water and dust resistant. Besides, it would also avoid any potential bends in the construction thanks to the use of high-strength materials in the rear panel.
Huawei’s new bezel-less smartphone release date
It’s still unclear when the company plans on introducing the design process to its smartphones. Despite Huawei’s claim of no disadvantages, the fact that the side strips stuck on with adhesive suggests it could potentially be a weak point in the device’s design if users accidentally drop it. Other than that, stay tuned with us for further updates!

Huawei might be working on a new custom Kirin OS for the Honor Play!
Rumor has it that Huawei is developing a new custom Kirin OS and is going to launch it in the Honor Play event. Keep reading for more juicy news!
Huawei to launch Kirin OS for the Honor Play gaming phone
Recently, the company has released a new poster to the Honor Play event. The invite for the Huawei Honor Play unveiling promised a “groundbreaking experience,” but didn’t say anything more. And there were vague mentions of “4D gaming”, but again with no further details. However, new images have surfaced online suggest that the innovation behind all these promises may be a custom operating system by Huawei. Perhaps it would run on Linux base and go by the name Kirin.
Besides, when talking about Honor Play’s innovation, chairman of the Chinese company used the metaphor “flying in the sky” to illustrate the speed of the new Kirin OS. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such rumors. They date back to at least 2015. Back then it seemed more like a defensive move in case Google gave Huawei the cold shoulder. Yet, given ZTE’s fate under the controversial ban, Google might not be Huawei’s biggest worry anymore.
On a side note, while waiting for more information about this new Kirin OS, let’s check out some details about the Huawei Honor Play again. Underhood, Huawei Honor Play gaming smartphone specs pack a 5.84-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. In details, the Honor Play gets power from the Kirin 659 chipset with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. Besides that, this phone sports 4GB RAM with either 32GB or 128GB of onboard storage which is expandable via a MicroSD card. Click HERE to read about the remaining info about the Huawei Honor Play.
Huawei Kirin OS release date
Now, these images could be false, but there are plenty of custom operating systems out there, so it’s not unlikely that they are real either. Plus, in China as long as a phone runs WeChat, the underlying OS doesn’t matter. After all, let’s all wait until the official launch date of Huawei Honor Play on June 6 to make a conclusion.
