As we know, Huawei did not introduce their flagship P9 at MWC 2016 perhaps because the company was not ready enough; they want a big event for their star. And since the handset is still a secret, we still see many leaks spread on the internet. The latest reliable one is that Huawei P9 will sport a metal frame, a dual rear camera setup, a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner placed on the back.

Furthermore, not long ago, some renders were spotted, showing a device featuring a 2.5D curved screen on the front. The borders seem very slim and the power button and volume controls are built in the P9’s right side. Moreover, we’re pretty sure that the phone will be available in gold, white, pink and gray. Those are some main points about Huawei P9 design. How about its specifications?

Accordingly, Huawei P9 specs will include a Kirin 950 chip, 4GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch display to be basic. After the success of Huawei P8 – one of the top flagships of 2015 – Huawei was rumored to be working on the next generation Huawei P9. And according to the famous Chinese website Mobile Dad, Huawei is hinting a launch of the P9 in Q1 2016, specifically March – making it almost a year after the Huawei P8 release. This timing is good enough for customers to experience the old version and start looking for updates to a new one.

From what we know about Huawei P9 specs for now, the smartphone will sport a 5.2 inch display, same size with its predecessor Huawei P8, and probably offering a “curved design”. Though there is no further clarification, we are guessing it means a curved display like that of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Also, as a higher end mobile device, Huawei P9 will run on the company’s Kirin 950 and paired with a powerful 4GB RAM.

One special Huawei P9 feature to be looking for is its camera module. It is said to offer an advanced dual rear camera with laser auto focus. Though we still have some more days to go the Huawei P9 Max BEAST phablet from the Chinese giant phone maker its Antutu score and specs have been leaked on the internet. Check them out! Accordingly, Huawei P9 Max specs include a 6.2-inch 2K display with 486 ppi, an octa-core Kirin 950 chip (which is the newest one made by Huawei) paired with GPU Mali-T880 MP4, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. In general, we can see that is is smaller than its predecessor Huawei P8 Max (equipped with a 6.8-inch screen).

Yet, it is surely more powerful in terms of display resolution (P8 Max only comes with Full HD) and operating system (P9 Max will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box). Although there are some specifications still unclear about the upcoming smartphone of Huawei, we are quite impressed by its AnTuTu score: 73,759 points generally and 16,822 points for the 3D graphics. It can beat a lot of flagships on the market now but.

Kirin 950 – rival to Exynos 8890

The Kirin 950 has been said to be the direct rival to Samsung’s Exynos 8890 used for Galaxy S7 and Snapdragon 820 rumored for Xiaomi Mi5. It is also believed to be more powerful than Apple A9 on iPhone 6S.

When we take a closer look at the Kirin 950, it seem that rumors are not exaggerating much. The latest chipset made by Huawei is actually quite impressive. Huawei have used the 16nm FinFET process to produce the Kirin 950 in order to utilize flip transitors. The Chinese King also promises a 40% increase in performance and 60% decrease in power usage. Wow!

In terms of technical figures, the Kirin 950 is an octa-core CPU, using high-power Cortex-A72 cores with the speed of 2.53 GHz. This helps provide the harmony between powerful performance and reasonable battery consumption. The Kirin 950 also features a small i5 co-processor. Compared to the previous generation i3 core, the i5 helps your smartphones stay strong and smooth all the time.

Although its a bit early for us to know about the Kirin 950 performance figures, their company did reveal the chip set’s AnTuTu points as a teaser before release. According to that, Kirin 950 scored almost 83 000 points on the famous Chinese benchmark. The result is so good it can easily impress any user. If everything goes right, we will have the Huawei Mate 8 flagship smartphone launched soon. With what we know so far about the Kirin 950 chip set, it is absolutely expected that the Mate 8 by Huawei will be a powerful handset.

We think that the 5 November event is just for the chip itself and the handset has to wait until 26 November 2015. You would wonder what it is, right?! From the teaser, we immediately figure out that it has to be Huawei Mate 8, the successor to Huawei Mate 7, not Huawei Mate S as many people thought.

This time, Huawei Mate 8 specs will include the gorgeous Kirin 950 chipset and according to Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong, a speaker at the Huawei Watch launch event for Vogue in Shanghai, it would be the Huawei equivalent of the iPhone 6S Plus. That is so promising!

Apart from that, Yu added the Huawei Mate 8 launch together with Huawei Mate S were expected to exceed their 100 million units sold goal for the 2016 fiscal year. This announcement seems to be drawing a lot of people’s attention though we do not know more about detailed Huawei Mate 8 specs as well price. But, it is predicted that the Huawei Mate 8 price will range from $400 to $550 (RM1,720 to RM2,370). In addition, Richard Yu claimed that he has been using the Mate 8 for the past few weeks and he was sure its camera and display would become the main selling points of the device.

To recap, Huawei is leading the smartphone market in China and they may also want to be in the top of the world, too. With the Kirin 950 and Huawwei Mate 8, it is probably they will be able to do it. Just wait a bit more!
