Along with this new phone, the company has recently unveiled its new chipset – the Kirin 960. As the recent report, the Kirin 960 chipset could appear on the Mate 9 smartphone. Generally, the Kirin 960 could be one of the most powerful chipsets from Huawei brand, which is even stronger than the Kirin 950 chipset.
To be more specific, Kirin 960 comes with an Octa-core CPU, including 4 Cortex – A73 and 4 Cortex-A53. There is a Mali-G71 MP8 GPU alongside. Compared to its predecessor – Kirin 950, the new Kirin 960 chipset is now stronger and faster. The CPU on this chipset gets 15% improvement. Especially, the GPU also achieves 180% efficiency. As the company unveiled, Kirin 960 can support LTE Cat.12/13 with 600Mbps of download speeds and 150Mbps of upload speeds.
When testing on GFXBench and Geekbench, Kirin 960’s benchmark just stands behind the A10 chipset from Apple. That means this new Huawei chipset is event stronger than the Samsung Exynos 8890 or the SnapDragon 821 chipset from Qualcomm.
