Nokia 1 Android Go Edition launch in India
According to our sources, Nokia has launched the Nokia 1 smartphone in India. In details, Nokia 1 is the brand’s first phone coming with Google’s new Android Oreo (Go Edition) platform. In details, Go Edition comes with Google’s suite of optimised apps for services while consumes less data and have smaller file sizes (lite version). Furthermore, this Nokia 1 is coming with two colour variants: warm red and dark blue with personalised azure/ grey or yellow/pink.
As for the Nokia 1 specs, it is a reasonably barebones device with a 4.5-inch IPS display with resolutions of 854×480 pixels. Under the hood, the handset sports the MediaTek MT6737 processor along with Android Oreo (Go Edition) out-of-the-box. Further, the storage provides 1GB of RAM and another 8GB ROM (expand to 128GB). Regarding optics department, Nokia handset also features a very basic 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera.
Meanwhile, the Nokia smartphone offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Moreover, the device bears an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor. Further, there would be a 2150mAh battery on board (9 hours of talk time, 15 days of standby time). Besides, a headset would come in the box.
Nokia 1 release date and price
According to HMD Global, Nokia 1 will be available starting Wednesday, March 28. Besides, Nokia 1 price should start from $85 ~ Rs. 5499. Else, there would be the Xpress-on covers sold separately in April for Rs. 450 ($7) each. Moreover, this handset would come at Rs. 3299 for Reliance Jio users due to the cashback of Rs.2200 ($34). Also, the consumer also gets 60GB of additional data.

According to our sources, Google has confirmed that the first smartphones running Android Oreo (Go edition) will become official at MWC next week. However, the company hasn’t named any of the upcoming products, but some of them will sell for less than $50. Regarding the OS, Android Oreo (Go edition) is the cheap version of Android Oreo 8.0 (specially optimized for low-end hardware).
The OS should optimize default apps and provide an optimized variant of the Play Store for lightweight apps. Moreover, Google claims to offer 15% faster app performance on handsets with entry-level specs. Meanwhile, there includes twice the free storage while built-in apps take up to 50% less space. So far, the handsets will have 1GB RAM or less, and 8GB ROM while remains “a high-quality experience”. Also, there is a greater focus on saving mobile data.
On the other hand, the Android One program (focused on the mid-range segment) has been running for a while now. In details, Android One handsets get “faster” access to OS updates for two years. The updates include the latest AI innovations from Google”, and “regular” security updates for three years.

Based on recent rumours, Nokia seems to be leading the charge on both fronts.
