Just released recently and some people already claimed there is no difference between the Sony Xperia XZ1 vs. Xperia XZ Premium. Let’s see how true is that.
Sony Xperia XZ1 vs. Sony Xperia XZ Premium specs comparison
It’s hard to disprove the claim on look alone because apparently, they look too similar. Although different in size, the front facing of both phones is practically the same. The design language doesn’t change with a metal frame and curved edges. You have to place two devices side by side just to see that the XZ Premium edges are a little bit less curvy. Even the screen button that houses the fingerprint scanner has the same location. But keeping with tradition is what Sony does, and that is the story behind the XZ1 look.
On the other hand, the story is a little different when it comes to specs. First, it’s about the display. This time there actually is a difference. On the XZ Premium, it’s 5.46-inch screen that renders in 4K resolution. Yes, glorious 4K resolution! Compare that to the 5.2-inch full HD screen from the XZ1 seems like overkill. On the inside, however, we’re back to the old script with both of the devices featuring a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Sony might be the only company to come up with things that are completely off the trend. While others are trying to put in one more lens to make a dual camera, Sony gives us a slow-motion one. Although that being said, the numbers are the same between the Sony Xperia XZ1 camera and XZ premium. Therefore, the only difference there can be regarding the cameras is whether the ability to capture slow motion videos makes a comeback on the XZ1. Otherwise, the XZ premium is the better one even with the same numbers.
Sony Xperia XZ1 vs. Sony Xperia XZ Premium: closing thoughts
All in all, the differences between these Sony devices aren’t going to show themselves. It’s all about the quality within and not the look outside.
