When talking about Android update, Sony has always been a reliable brand that can support your old devices. However, there was one major drawback. Until now, we still haven’t had any official policy on how long Sony Xperia flagships and mid-range phone Android update is going to last. But that is going to change. Today, Sony has released more information to clarify all of the questions about Sony Xperia Flagships Android support.
According to their statement, Sony now commits to upgrade all of their Xperia flagships to the latest Android version two years after launching. Moreover, these premium Sony handsets are going to receive the Security Update Program too. This system can help patch security risks and vulnerabilities. On the other hand, the Sony mid-range and entry-level smartphones didn’t get a specific period of support.
The Android upgrade beta phase result is going to prove if that handset can deliver a stable user experience. If the outcome doesn’t meet Sony’s expectation, the Sony smartphone will not receive the Android upgrade. Furthermore, not all mid-range phones are going to join the Security Update Program. For now, there is no mention of entry-level Sony handset. On the other hand, we also have more news about the fix for two security threats – Meltdown and Spectre. In details, every Sony Xperia generation from the X line is going to receive the patch. To name a few, we have the Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra, L1, XA1 Plus. Similarly, there are also Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra, L2, Xperia X Performance, X. Also, we have the X Compact, XZ, XZ Premium, XZs, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact.
