The Xperia series is known to have good design and good performance. However, the price is often considered quite high. Even so, many people still love what Sony has offered. Recently, there have been reports that Sony Xperia flagship may get OLED display in 2018!
Sony Xperia flagship 2018 might get an OLED display!
Recently, there are reports from Japan that Sony Xperia flagship will finally get to have OLED display. So far, the Japanese company has only equipped its top of the line smartphones and flagships with LCD display. However, that is set to change in 2018, or maybe 2019, as the OLED will finally make an appearance on Sony’s top flagship series. This is also what many fans of Sony has been waiting for, and they are very excited, even though it is still quite a while away.
When equipping with OLED displays, Sony’s flagship series will finally have the same feature that Samsung devices have. The Korean giant has been equipping its best devices in the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note series, with OLED displays for many years. That has also been the standout features of those Samsung devices compared to others, or in the very least, to Sony’s devices.
OLED display nowadays is not an uncommon feature, as many Android smartphone makers have chosen it for their devices already. Even Apple is reported to be shifting to OLED display from LCD for its newest iPhone this year, which is also the 10-year anniversary of the device. For the production front, Samsung is the biggest OLED manufacturer for phones. However, Sony has chosen to wait for LG and JDI to put up production, and will choose from those companies instead. In 2018 or 2019, they should be able to supply enough panels. They are even rumored to be the supplier of OLED panels to Apple.
Sony Xperia 2018 to use OLED: Better late than never
This move of Sony to use OLED panels for their smartphones may be considered a little late for the company. However, it is better late than never, as OLED has proven to be better than the traditional LCD. There is still some time before the change is made, however we can certainly look forward to Sony devices in 2018 or 2019. Are you looking forward to that as well?
