DID YOU KNOW: The Top Five Ways to Show Your Pet You Love Them!

As a pet owner, sometimes we struggle to show our love for them, don’t we? Today, let us show you the best ways to show your pet you love them the most then. Check it out right below!

1. Provide Your Pet All The Food:

Many people don’t realise that how you feed and interact with your pet can build upon their instincts, stated Dr Michael Sanwald, the chief veterinary officer at Fetch My Vet. For your pet, you should keep pet-friendly treats on hand and then use them between meals to engage and interact with them.

“As pack animals, they never know when their next meal might be, so they always seem to want to eat,” shares Sanwald. On the other hand, for feline owners, you can find small treats and place them in a puzzle for them to play until finding the treat to eat.

2. Use More Facial Expressions:

A recent study has showcased to us a big surprise regarding our beloved pet! They prove that dogs can now communicate with their people by raising their eyebrows. In details, dogs are more facially expressive when they’re around human than when they’re alone or with other animals. “Frequently, dogs use the left eyebrow to greet their owners,” shares Sanwald. Interestingly, the left side of the face tied to emotion. As a result, when pups greet us with their left eyebrow, they are demonstrating an emotional connection to us. So, when you come home to see your pet, do consider using more facial activity and eyebrow movement to connect with them.

3. Lean in:

Many animals feel cornered or even attacked when you hug them. On the other hand, when a dog leans into you, that’s the equivalent of a hug in canine body language. “Displays of affection like leaning in are often overlooked and confused with other behaviours, so don’t ignore their hugs,” states Sanwald. “You should lean back on them for a moment, and let them know you love them too.” Moreover, don’t push them away or crush them. Just the right amount of lean will demonstrate that you trust them.

4. Let Them Sleep With You:

What better ways to show your pet you love them by letting them sleep with you? According to many research, allowing your pet to relax with you is the ultimate display of showing trust, love and affection for your cat or dog, says Sanwald. When a pet is sleeping, they are at their most vulnerable. “Sleeping with you demonstrates that you are part of their pack, and this allows them to connect with you,” Sanwald says. Furthermore, you can consider a quick snuggle with your pet on the couch or on the floor for a few minutes each day to show them your love.

5. Be Mindful of Your Pet’s Behavior Changes:

If you feel like your dog isn’t listening to you; stop and check on what’s happening. Put yourself in your dog’s place —remember, stress levels are up to your dog, not your perception of how you think your pet feel. Pay attention if your dog suddenly puts on the brakes during a walk, check your surroundings. Is there a new sign up ahead, more traffic than usual, a person wearing something your dog hasn’t seen before? Make sure to look out for them!
