Shout out to all the zero-waste enthusiastic!! We’re here today to give you all the advice you need to “go green” and save money at the same time. Check them out right below!
1. Stick to what you need to buy:
We all have those moments when we’re weak against shopping sales. This is a big no if you want to go zero-waste. Before doing your weekly shopping, make sure to list down anything you need to avoid this situation.
Furthermore, you can consider using a glass jar, instead of taking the plastic bag the supermarket usually provide. You can take them to any store to buy ingredients if this is an option for you.
2. Say goodbye to bin liners:
Depending on the size of your trash bag and what you throw out every day, there are plenty of zero waste solutions that you can consider! If your bin is small, do consider using old newspaper. Meanwhile, if your trash is wet and stinky, you could use an old coffee sack, pillow case, repurposed plastic food bucket or even a cardboard box.
3. Compost your food waste (for free):
We undoubtedly have more left-over food that we don’t or can’t eat daily. Instead of letting it goes to waste, why not consider recycling? You can use two old white builder/food buckets placed one inside the other, with holes cut into the smaller one to create drainage. The final product can be used in your garden.
4. Make your own cleaning cloth:
Have old clothes that you can’t wear anymore? Turn them into cleaning cloth! Simply repurpose old fabric as rags to clean up your house, table or wall. The list includes all the old towels, bedding, T-shirts, work shirts. Save tons of money instead of buying new washing cloth!
5. Reusables is the Key:
Instead of buying a water bottle each time you need, buy a bottle you can carry around and use every day. How about coffee? Get a go-away metal bottle or mug with lit so it will be easier. Reusable lunchbox? Start using your own lunch box and bring your meal, cheaper and zero-waste! Finally, drop the habit of using plastic straw, go for the metal or even wood products to help save the environment!
