Samsung vs LG phones to have four curved edges
While every manufacturer is making bigger and bigger phones, Samsung vs LG are working on maximizing usable screen areas. Let’s see how practical this is…
Samsung vs LG reportedly working on displays with four curved edges?
Looking back when we were switching from feature phones to smartphones, touchscreens were just like a miracle. Then smartphones users started to ask for better and bigger displays. Recently, we have seen several phones with curved displays or edges. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge must be the first one coming to our mind. While the latest Galaxy S8 display is maximized with almost no bezel and physical home button area, Samsung together with LG are now working on a new display for their phones.
The unique screen is said to be curved on all and four sides. However, Samsung vs LG are facing some technical problems with the lamination process. Curving all the sides with the current lamination process “makes the corners unable to register touch”. So the new display will not come until next year. Samsung vs LG are still working to fix the problem. If any of them can produce a phone with curves and edges on four sides, the screen to body size ratio will go up to 98%.
In a recent report, Apple has placed an order of 70 million OLED displays from Samsung. This is very likely what you will see on the 10th anniversary iPhone. However, it is also noted that Apple chose flat OLED panels instead of the trendy curved displays. We are waiting to see if these displays would belong to iPhone 7s and 7s Plus or iPhone 8.
Samsung vs LG to make better displays?
Recently, a good news arrived for both Samsung and Apply when Samsung Galaxy S8 display was rated as the best among all. Samsung seems to never stop striving for better products when it is now joining hands with the Korean giant LG. When do think the new displays would come?
