TrendForce has just released a report showing some of the top producers worldwide in terms of the global smartphone shipments made in Q2, 2015. According to their findings, Samsung has topped the second quarter with 26.8% market shares. This is obviously thanks to the sales of popular Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as well as many other favorite devices like Galaxy Grand Prime. The company is known for their top products with fashionable design and beautiful camera sensors. We can easily find Samsung appearing in other top lists like best performance smartphones, most trending smartphones of the month….
Meanwhile, Apple is ranked 2nd with 16.4% market shares. We can tell that this is mostly contributed by their favorite iPhone 6 with slim design and updated specs compared to the previous iPhones.
Among the many Chinese smartphones brands, there are two leading the list: Huawei and Xiaomi. Huawei is being on the top with 7.6% global market shares and 18.3% among the Chinese OEMs. The company has many new as well as flagship devices introduced to both local and international markets like Huawei Honor 4A, Honor 7, Huawei Mate 8 .The company revealed that they expected to sell up to 100 million units by the end of 2015.
But what impressed us the most is Xiaomi. Despite very young age (they turned 5 earlier this year), Xiaomi already surpassed Lenovo and appeared in the list. In the first 6 months of 2015, the company already sold out 34.7 million items, expecting even more to go later in the sale seasons with an announcement of 3 new products to be launched. Some of Xiaomi products that are popular in our markets are Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Mi Note etc…
TrendForce also estimates the smartphone shipments to be down this year compared to last year due to decreasing demand and negative global economic for the rest of the year.
