Samsung Mobile invested in Dual Camera producer

This is an official information. Samsung Mobile recently invested into Core Photonics, a manufacturer of dual-camera systems from Israel. 

About Core Photonics

Core Photonics is the pioneer and market leader of dual camera technology for the smartphone. Core Photonics has been active in the camera phone market for over 10 years. The company provides dual camera solutions which improve the image quality. Core Photonics produced a range of dual camera like the Night Owl Camera, Hummingbird Camera and the Hawkeye Camera. They are also creating the range of action camera.

Core Photonics has been previously founded as a startup which has developed innovative products. The imaging firm has collaborated with Qualcomm and several other prominent tech companies. Core Photonics’s current investors: Magma VC, Amiti Ventures, Li Ka-Shing and Solina Chau’s Horizon Ventures, OurCrowd, SanDisk, CK Telecom and BetaAngels VC. 

Tel Aviv-based Core Photonics has raised approximately USD 50 million since established in 2012. According to industry sources on January 12, Samsung Venture Investment, Foxconn (the biggest assembler of Apple), MediaTek and a tier-1 smartphone OEM have officially invested a total of USD 15 million in Core Photonics. There are 2 additional investment funds participated in this funding round. One from China and the other from Hong Kong. Details of this investment are still unknown.

Samsung mobile will be sported the dual camera

Nowadays, the camera department with a dual-cam is an attractive option for a smartphone. The dual camera will improve the image quality. With depth field effect, a high resolution camera for high solution image, a camera for low-light. Galaxy S8 would be the first Samsung mobile to introduce a dual lens camera like Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. While Samsung still introduces such a camera for the S8 in according to the advertise released. Hope the next Samsung mobile will be the first one equipped dual camera.
