After two months of teasing, there is finally some info about the Samsung Gear S4 release date and price. Keep on reading for more details!
Samsung Gear S4 to come with Android Wear OS
Perhaps the most important leak we’ve gathered so far is a source within Samsung who claims the company is preparing the Gear S4 right now. However, a new trademark application suggests Samsung may intend to release its next smartwatch under the new name Samsung Galaxy Watch so that the Gear name may be dead after all. Also, rumours for the Samsung Gear S4 are now starting to pile up ever since we heard the word the watch is in development.
One of them is the smartwatch is going to run on the Android Wear operating system. The other source has said Samsung wants to offer the upcoming watch in two different sizes (LTE and non-LTE). If one of these rumours turn out to be true, this would be something of a precedent in Samsung’s history with wearables – which have traditionally been based on Tizen OS. Going by logic, the huge popularity that Samsung’s smart-wear have been enjoying over the years.
It seems unlikely that the company will turn its back on Tizen and adopt Android Wear OS entirely. However, according to Ice Universe, he claims that Samsung and Google are working on a new “Android Wear flagship watch”. And it is supposedly slated for release in the second half of 2018. The company’s rep also confirmed that the Samsung Gear S4 would, indeed, adopt the ‘Galaxy Watch’ moniker, as suggested by previous reports. You can read more about its specs and design HERE.
