Redmi Note 2 Pro and Xperia Z5 Ultra: first 30 smartphones to update Snapdragon 820

Leaksfly, very famous account on Weibo.com  – a popular Chinese forum just leaked a piece of news about Qualcomm’s newest chipset Snapdragon 820. In this leaks, he mentioned the first devices that will feature the chipset. Among those, we can see Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra and Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro as the recently launched devices.

“Qualcomm S820 starting lineup – (foreign) 1: LG G5 2: Sony Z5 Ultra (domestic) 1: Xiaomi Mi Note 2 2: 2 Pro music as super phone and music as super phone 2 Max expect that you compare a cell phone.”

2015 has been tough on Qualcomm, when their Snapdragon 810 and 615 continuously got many negative feed backs about heating problems. The competition has been harder for them also with the rise of Helio X10 chip set and Exynos 7420.

However, the promising upcoming chip with the name Snapdragon 820 can really be the hero and save the day.  According to a Chinese report, the future looks much brighter for Qualcomm with this Snapdragon 820. Up to now, September 2015, there are already more than 30 smartphones lined up to get updates. The number alone proved that the chip set is well developed enough to gain the trust from those smartphone companies not only in China but around the world.

Gizmochina several days earlier also published an article claiming that Xiaomi is working to be the first Chinese smartphone to use Snapdragon 820. As there will be a lot of smartphones (more than 30 of nothing changes) that go with this latest chip set, being the first one to feature, even in China only, can be a very huge advantage for Xiaomi in terms of sales.

On international market, together with the release of the Xperia Z5 series, Sony hinted another device named Xperia Z5 Ultra that will come with Snapdragon 820 SoC. So it is very much likely that beside Xiaomi, Sony are competing to be the first outside China to feature the new SoC on their smartphone.

Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra also save a ticket for Snapdragon 820

If the Snapdragon 820 turns out as good as they say for now (check here for full details), then we will be happily waiting for 2016 to come and test the new SoC.
