Qualcomm outs Snapdragon 212, 412 & 616 for mid range devices
Qualcomm Snapdragon, a long famous chipset for most high end and mid end devices, has become a hot topic ever since the birth of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and the next Snapdragon 820. While Snapdragon 820 won’t be released before the end of this year, and other high end flagships like Xiaomi Mi5 will have to wait, this is not a problem on mid range smart phones. Qualcomm has provided three new chips for your affordable and mid range desires: Qualcomm Snapdragon 212, 412 and 616.
New chipsets for affordable and mid range devices
Snapdragon 212 and 412 will provide power for the more affordable series, while Snapdragon 616 will be on more mid end series. The three chipsets are produced with 24nm technology.
The 212 and 412 chipsets will come on board with Adreno 304/ 306, with 412 has a higher speed. Snapdragon 212 will support HD 720p display and 8MP camera.
Snapdragon 412 will support up to a 13MP camera. The display it supports will have a resolution of FHD 1920 x 1200p. Moreover, the clockspeed of the processor will be upgraded to 1.4Ghz.
Snapdragon 212 and 412 will have a new Quickcharge 2.0 technology
Snapdragon 616, the upgraded version of 615 on devices such as Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, will support up to 1.7GHz & 1.3GHz processors, while still being produced by the 24nm technology. The devices sporting this chipset will have up to 8MP camera. Moreover, GPU on these devices will be an Adreno 405.
Samsung Galaxy A8 is equipped with Snapdragon 615
We will not know when these chipsets will be shipped, but affordable and mid end series will have sported these chipsets as soon as the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016.
