PS3 Era seems to be coming to an end!
Everything must come to and end eventually. The life cycle of a console is no different. Now, it looks like PS3 era is coming to and end, as Sony’s support seems to have stopped. Let’s take a look!
PS3 Era seems to be coming to an end!
Recently, Sony has announced the MLB The Show 17 will be released for PS4 next March, and PS3 will not be supported. Last year’s edition of this sport game was the last big title to be playable on the PS3. With these in minds, it seems we can all reach an inevitable conclusion: the time of PS3 is almost up. Sony probably will not announced any new contents for the console which has lasted more than 10 years in the market. Another era is coming to an end soon!
Yes, there have been no confirmation that Sony will stop giving out free old games to PS3 owners via the PS Plus so far. However, with companies focusing on the more potential PS4 and the coming PS4 Pro, the old console does not have much to look forward to. The last big developer, Bungie, has quietly stopped making new contents for the game Destiny since last year, splitting progress on PS3 and PS4 separately. It is still impressive though, that the PS3 has been around for as long as it did.
This has been foretold since last year, when Activision announced the exclusion of PS3 for the game Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (Xbox 360 also shared the same fate). The game that serves as the nail on the coffin for PS3, supposedly, MLB The Show 17, will be released on March 28th, 2017. PS3 owners will not be able to enjoy new digital baseball experience.
PS3 era: Much to remember
So, another era has passed for a generation of Sony’s console. Following the massive success of PS2, which had some memorable games, PS3 had also offered players some of the greatest games as well. Now, it will all be a memory. Let’s look forward to the new age, with PS4 and PS4 Pro!
