With the year 2018’s approaching its end soon, many smartphone brands are now preparing for their big plan in 2019. Without a doubt, the foldable phone must be one of the hottest trends in the market next year. Previously, Samsung has confirmed the arrival of their first foldable Android device dubbed Samsung Galaxy F. Moreover, many Chinese brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi also show more hints about their upcoming foldable phone.

On the other hand, OPPO was another brand who was quick to jump on the bandwagon. So far, they had registered various patents for the foldable smartphone. In details, the patents were filed with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) on 22nd March 2018. Notably, they came under the names ‘Rotation Mechanism and Foldable Mobile Terminal’ and ‘Hinge assembly, the rotation mechanism and foldable mobile terminal’.

Today, one more new patent of the OPPO foldable phone makes its way online. According to our sources, OPPO acquired the patent on November 13th with the name “SIPO”. Based on the image, the handset requires a flexible display in order to become a fully working device, as the display bends when you close the device. As a result, we believe that OPPO can actually use Samsung’s brand new displays in this flagship. Unlike on Samsung’s foldable smartphone, the OPPO smartphone does not have a separate display on the outside. When the device is unfolded, you can use one large display, you can basically use the device as a tablet. Furthermore, when it is folded, half of the phone’s display is going to be usable.
