Current OnePlus smartphones do not support Project Treble

Most of the manufacturers spend a lot of time upgrading their operating system. Recently, Google introduced a feature “Project Treble” to speed up the updating of OS. This feature allows manufacturers update their device to a new version of Android more easily, quickly and less costly. Treble is available in all new smartphones launching with Android 8.0 and beyond. Additionally, users can also develop a system image across different devices as long as they offer Treble feature.

OnePlus has announced that none of the current devices from them will support Treble feature. Not only OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T but OnePlus 5 and new OnePlus 5T flagship also do not offer Project Treble. On the other hand, for the upcoming OnePlus 6, there is no official information about whether this phone will support Project Treble. We expect that this phone will come with Treble feature because they offer Android 8.0 (Oreo) out of the box.

Not only OnePlus, other giant manufacturers such as HMD also announced that there Nokia 8 would not support this Treble feature. There are some devices that have already sported Treble feature such as Google Pixel 1 and Google Pixel 1 XL, Huawei Mate 9, Huawei Honor 8 Pro…

Which upcoming phone will get Project Treble support?

We expect that upcoming OnePlus 6 will support Treble function. If you are hesitating to buy a phone without Treble, you can wait a couple of months. However, we think that feature of Android 8.0 will not alter your phone much. Drop us a comment to share with us your opinion!
