OnePlus 5T gets Oreo updates and new features

Based on the latest updates, OnePlus 5T equips the trendy 18:9 ratio display. As a result, the positioning of the navigation keys is a must-have feature and starts to appear soon on OnePlus 5T. In details, OnePlus 5T gets official Oreo updates via OxygenOS version 5.0.2, which includes virtual gesture with free-button. On the other hand, some other system and applications also involve in the update process.

Regarding the new gesture, OnePlus 5T replaces the traditional navigation buttons with different swipes. In details, users swipe up to return to the home screen (from the bottom), open multitasking screen (from the centre) or go back (from bottom right/back). In order to activate this feature, users need to take a phone backup, sign up for the OnePlus 5T Oreo Beta and enable the gestures.

However, the beta version would deny the stable build for your phone. Therefore, whenever you want to switch to the stable version, just get factory reset and flash the stable build. The stable version offers system updates include Android Oreo 8.0, new design for Quick Settings and a security patch for CPU. Besides, there are also some updates for system applications including Launcher, Gallery, Weather and Files Manager. Also, the controversial clipboard sending data to China has been removed through this update.

When will OnePlus 5T get Oreo updates and other new features?

As mentioned above, the beta version with ongoing Android Oreo starts earlier for both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. However, the stable build has dropped in January month-end. Go ahead and give it a try on the new update. Let us know what do you think and stay tuned for more updates!
