OnePlus to be among the first brand to introduce a 5G smartphone in 2019!

With the new year’s slowly approaching, the run for 5G smartphone release is getting hotter than ever! Previously, we have brought you the news about many smartphone manufacturers jumping to the 5G smartphone race. Today, we have more updates on this battle! Today, a conference dedicated to 4G and 5G networks is taking place in Hong Kong. Notably, many phones manufacturers have used the occasion to announce their plans for the next big thing in the mobile world in 2019.

Among the presentation, OnePlus stole our attention with their statement for the future products! In details, Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, said his team is going to be among the first to launch a 5G-enabled flagship, likely called OnePlus 7.s name. On the other hand, Cristiano Amon, the president of Qualcomm, also announced at least two 5G flagships are going to arrive in 2019. This is when Carl Pei joined him on stage to share that the OnePlus smartphone will appear in H1 2019.

The new OnePlus 7.s is going to rely on the Snapdragon X50 modem. Moreover, the chipset is downsized QTM052 mmWave antenna module, which Qualcomm announced at the conference. Along with OnePlus, there have been plenty of manufacturers also stated their commitment to Qualcomm and its path to 5G connectivity. For now, the list of companies that are planning to launch smartphones with the X50 5G NR modem includes Asus, HMD Global, LG, Motorola, Oppo, Sony, vivo, and Xiaomi. Finally, we can see that the big brands missing from the announcement are Huawei and Samsung as they already have their production lines.
