OnePlus 5 Face Unlock: similar to the OnePlus 5T?

One of the most distinguishing factors that help OnePlus 5T to stand out from its forerunner is the Face Unlock system. However, this facial unlocking mode may be coming to its “older” sibling, the OnePlus 5 as well. The XDA Developers has pointed out that Android Oreo beta for the OnePlus 5 device includes the Face Unlock option. Notably, it is still unclear if all OnePlus 5 owners are going to receive this update. Regarding OnePlus’s Face Unlock option, it is a bit different to Apple or Samsung’s face recognition mode.

Instead of using a dedicated face sensor, OnePlus handset just depends on its camera system, specifically the selfie shooter. Additionally, the OnePlus company has stated that they collected over 100 unique identifiers to identify who is looking at it precisely. How does it work? The Face Unlock does the trick by analyzing over 100 identifiers on your face such as the distance between your eyes or between your nose and upper lip. The OnePlus company has included numerous parameters so that Face Unlock works in different lighting conditions as well as when you are wearing glasses.

For now, OnePlus has announced the distribution of OnePlus 5. For smartphone users, OnePlus 5T is undoubtedly a better option. Regarding the display, OnePlus 5T specs feature a 6.01-inch a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. On the other hand, OnePlus 5T uses the chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 6GB/8GB RAM.
