What is the reason behind OnePlus 5 discontinue?

The general manager of OnePlus has recently claimed that the company would follow the same approach for the OnePlus 5 phone as it did with the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3, Oneplus 5 production is stopped and only the OnePlus 5T product will be on the market. The company also stressed that 5T phone is not a new phone. This handset is just the variant of the Oneplus 5,  an improvised version of the OnePus 5. This OnePlus handset offers better optics, display and overall performance. There is no difference in the price between Oneplus 5T and Oneplus 5.

The reason for this acts of Oneplus is very interesting. For now, the company focuses on the premium segment. Moreover, they want to make sure that their phones can compete with other available flagships in the market. Instead of spending a lot of time to launch a new product, the company decides to release a variant of the old one. Additionally, other smartphone manufacturers also use the same strategy, they are Samsung and LG.

Let’s have a glance at the difference between OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. One of the biggest differences between the two smartphones is in terms of display. The OnePlus 5T has the new 6.02 inches of screen and 18:9 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, OnePlus 5 only offers 5.5-inch display with 16:9 ratio. Moreover, there is a repositioning of the fingerprint sensor to the rear and the addition of facial recognition in OnePlus 5T.
