The Android Oreo is official now. However, not every device can get it immediately. Luckily, a OnePlus 3 update is coming, and it brings along the new operating system for the old phone.
OnePlus 3 specs: 6GB RAM
Although the OnePlus 3 launched last year in June, it still has the look of a new flagship. The device is amongst the first to pick up the bezel-less trend. The distinctive reflexion from the metal back gives the phone a pristine look. We are all for an accurate fingerprint scanner. So the horizontal, physical home button of the OnePlus 3 isn’t all that bad since it houses the scanner. For the record, the phone has a good design. And it weighs 158g, so it’s going to feel pretty solid when you are holding it.
Looks aside, the device has some of the latest techs even when it was released a year ago. For instance, the OnePlus 3 RAM sports 6GB. Even the Galaxy S8 doesn’t have that much. The display is a 5.5-inch screen that renders at full HD resolution. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset model 820. The Oneplus battery can provide 3000 mAh once fully charged. Overall, the phone is fast and smooth as far as performance is concerned.
Although it is becoming obsolete, the OnePlus 3 Camera is still relevant when it comes to mobile photography. It features a single 16MP resolution sensor with f/2.0 aperture for the primary shooter. The selfie cam is, in fact, better than some newly release devices with 8MP resolution and f/2.0 aperture.
OnePlus 3 update: expected in December
The phone runs on Android 6 Marshmallow out of the box. But that was the story for last year. This year, the open beta testing for the Android 8 Oreo is going to start this month. So it’s likely that the official update is in December or even sooner if nothing goes wrong.
