More Nokia smartphones were sold in Q4 than HTC, Sony, Google or OnePlus phones
2017 was the first year of the revamp of Nokia smartphones. After that, HMD Global has witnessed a steady increase in the Nokia phones shipment. According to the new report, Counterpoint Research has announced that HMD Global managed to capture 1 percent of global market share in Q4 2017. In details, around 4.4 million Nokia smartphones were sold in the 4th quarter of last year. This number put the brand on the 11th position.
Furthermore, with 4,4 million in the last 3 months of 2017, more the Nokia handsets shipments than other manufacturers such as HTC, Sony, Google, Alcatel, Lenovo, OnePlus, Gionee, Meizu, Coolpad, and Asus. Speaking of India market, Nokia is the 5th biggest mobile phone brand. Besides, in the UK, Nokia brand enter the top 3. In details, HMD Global shipped 25.1 million units of feature phones and smartphones in Q4 2017. This number increased by 54 percent in the 4th quarter compared to the 16.3 million units shipped in Q3 2017.
In Q1 2017, only Nokia 6 was available in China. Therefore, HMD Global shipped 100,000 units. In Q2 2017, HMD started launching the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 to some global markets and the shipment reached 1.4 million units. In Q3 2017, the manufacturer sold 2,8 million units. The last quarter is 4.4 million smartphones sold. These number allows the company to gain 1% market share in 2017.
