Nokia President: “Mobile phones are our history, not our future”
Ever since we got to know about the expiration of the contract between Nokia and Microsoft later this year, people have been asking Nokia president whether Nokia will come back to make smartphones again. And seems like the topic is very controversial now…
“Mobile phones are our history”
Last month, news has been burst out that Nokia-made smartphones, feature phones and tablets will soon hit the shelves once again. This made tech geeks and Nokia fans around the world so happy and excited for the grand return. However, recent reports are suggesting the total opposite, according to which, we are afraid it would be a No for the question whether Nokia is coming back with smartphones…
“We have absolutely no interest to go back into the mobile business. That’s our history, not our future,” Ramzi Haidamus, Nokia president of Technologies unit just shared online. But don’t you be disappointed yet. It doesn’t mean Nokia will not involve into the industry at all. Instead, the company is licensing its name to HMD – another company also from Finland. This company will design, make and of course, sell Nokia-branded devices.
Instead, Nokia president said they will be focusing in the health industry. Back in April, the giant announced their acquisition of Withings – the French digital health company – , making it a real game with a brand new field. That being said, we are hoping to still see future Nokia smartphones being produced. The only difference is that, the company will not take part in the design and manufacturing process.
Nokia smartphones 2016
T0 make the long story short, from what we have gained so far, Nokia smartphones will still be manufactured and launched later this year. However, it seems that the company will not directly involve in any process of that. Nokia, on the other hand, found their “true calling” and will be focusing on VR camera (the OZO) and health industry (Source)
