We have two good news in one article for you guys today! Both of the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2 are going to get security updates in this month. Keep reading for more details!
Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2 are getting new security updates
A couple of Nokia smartphones have started getting new security updates in May. Among them are the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2, and the updates they are getting include Android security fixes for this month. The Nokia 8 Sirocco update – which is currently hitting in the Indian market – weighs in at 82.5MB. Whereas the size of the Nokia 2 update – which is rolling out in both India and the US – is 88MB.
So far, the change-log only says May patch, so it’s reasonable to assume no major change is included. A little heads up, over-the-air (OTA) roll out happen in phases, so be patient if your device hasn’t received the update yet. Previously, we have reported about a mysterious poster on Chinese media, which hints at the arrival of one new Nokia phone. In details, the sign revealed that the upcoming handset is going to have the name Nokia X 2018.
Furthermore, HMD Global is now completing the required certifications to launch the phone. Today, more information regarding this Nokia phone has arrived. The Nokia X 2018 is going to come with a 10W. For now, these two handsets carry the model number of TA-1099 and TA-1109. The listing doesn’t reveal much beyond TD-LTE (showing these are China Mobile handsets) and their charger. Notably, this is a 5V/2A charger. This information explains that they might be ordinary Nokia smartphones. Furthermore, we can believe that they can be the successor of the original X phone from 2014.
Nokia monthly security updates
HMD has been quite consistent in terms of releasing monthly security and operating system updates for Nokia smartphones. The company has also made it clear that all Nokia handsets run on Android will receive minimum two years of OS update support.
