We have good news for Nokia 2 owners today! While other HMD’s handsets are going under the Android 8.0 Beta phrase, Nokia 2 receives Android Oreo 8.1 OS, skipping the 8.0 version. Find out why below!
Nokia 2 receives Android Oreo 8.1
Previously, HMD Global has announced the plans to upgrade all of its Nokia handsets to Android 8.0. In details, Nokia 8 has completed the update, while both Nokia 5 and 6 are currently in the beta testing phase. Furthermore, both Nokia low-end phones: Nokia 2 and Nokia 3, will receive the upgrade as well. In theory, both Nokia smartphones might not run Android OS as smooth as other mid-range.
However, thanks to Android Go, we can guarantee one good handset’s performances. According to HMD’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, the Nokia 2 will be updated directly to Android 8.1 Oreo. This version of the operating system includes many Android Go management improvements announced by Google. As a result, it should enhance Nokia 2’s overall performance in many ways.
As for Nokia 2 specs, this Nokia handset comes with 5.0-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colours. Moreover, Nokia 2’s screen has 16:9 ratio and 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. Under the hood, this Nokia phone takes power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset and 1GB RAM. In terms of storage, Nokia 2 has 8GB RAM and an extendable 128GB via microSD. On the other hand, Nokia 2 camera sports an 8MP primary snapper with autofocus and LED flash. There is also a 5MP secondary shooter. Moreover, Nokia 2 also supports 720p@30fps video recording. Finally, Nokia 2 comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 4100mAh battery.
Nokia 2 receives Android Oreo 8.1: when will the update begin?
We might need to wait a while for the Android 8.1 Oreo to arrive for Nokia 2 handset. For now, only Nokia 5 and 6 are in the testing phase. However, we can expect the Android 8.1 to appear on Nokia 2 handset around January or February 2018. Will you be updating your handset to Android 8.1? Drop a comment to let us know!
