Nintendo 3DS was a nice success for the Japanese company since its launch. With that, the company has decided to add an extension to the device, the new Nintendo 2DS XL. The new device has been revealed recently by Nintendo, and is expected to launch on July 28, in North America first. Other markets will follow shortly. The new Nintendo 2DS XL will give customers a third option between the 2DS and 3DS XL, as it has a nice mix of features and pricing between the two. Its launch date will be the same as the two big new games for the 3DS: Hey! PIKMIN and Miitopia.
Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo North America branch, has stated that the new Nintendo 2DS XL has shown the company’s commitment to the handheld market. The new device will have a gorgeous clamshell design, and will offer a great balance between price and performance. There will be two color options: black and turquoise. It will also use the same screen size of the 3DS XL system. The name, 2DS, also suggests that visuals will be displayed in 2D only.
Even thought the new Nintendo 2DS XL will be lighter, it packs the same power as the 3DS XL. There will also be an internal NFC feature for amiibo cards and figures. Also, the 2DS XL can play the massive collection of games from 3DS, 3DS XL, and DS in 2D. Nintendo systems are the ones where you can find your favorite characters and games easily, such as Mario, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros., Fire Emblem, and The Legend of Zelda.
