New mid-range chipsets Snapdragon 632, 439, 429 are coming soon!
Recently, Qualcomm has released a set of mid-range chipsets that promised to improve and help boost performance. Behold, the Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429. Keep reading for more details!
New mid-range chipsets: Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429.
Recently, Qualcomm has expanded their traditional mid-tier chipset with an addition of Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429. Now, there are some major performance benefits with this latest set of Snapdragon chips. There are also some improved features. But compared to Qualcomm’s other recent mid-tier platforms these SoCs don’t feel all that new. For instance, the Snapdragon 439 and 429 follow in the footsteps of the old SnD 435 and 425.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 632 is more similar to the Snapdragon 652 as it’s now the first time we see big cores brought down to the lower mid-tier successor. In details, SnD 632 brings for the first time the performance benefit of big cores to this particular price segment. There’s a 4x Kryo 250 up to 1.8GHz CPUID in-built, which matches the Cortex A72. Importantly, the 632 is pin compatible with the 626, making it a cost-effective upgrade path for manufacturers.
This chipset also boasts higher resolution dual camera options and support for Qualcomm’s suite of “AI” tools. On top of that, the Snapdragon 439 is an 8x A53 setup with a performance cluster going up to 1.95GHz while the second efficiency cluster goes up to 1.45GHz. Besides, the 429 chip is a simple single-cluster with 4x Cortex A53’s up to 1.95GHz. It comes with a more updated Adreno 504 over the older Adreno 308 with the most substantial quoted performance improvement of up to 50%.
New Qualcomm mid-range chipsets availability
In a customer’s point of view, it’s increasingly tricky to keep track of exactly which of these mid-range chips is the very latest and greatest. Perhaps the company needs to come up with different names for their products. On another note, Qualcomm expects the first devices shipping with these new chipsets to hit the market in the second half of 2018.
