Horror games are designed to make you feel scared of supernatural happenings and incidents. However, a new horror game has just come to town, and it is based on a very simple context: a stranger’s phone!
New horror game about a stranger’s phone!
Normally, horror games usually happen with the settings of an adventure filled with supernatural incidents, and monsters or ghosts. However, Sara Is Missing is a new horror game that takes quite an interesting setting: it takes place on a stranger’s phone. Of course, there still horror cliches, like sudden jump scares, but it can be very scary, and it makes full use of the limited format.
Horror, as we have said, includes fear in many unknown elements of life, such as an unclosed door, a faintly heard whisper, or some sort of old folk legends becoming the source of true terror. In Sara Is Missing, the root of terror is in the unfamiliar technology. The Sara’s phone in the title works just like a regular iPhone. However, it is pre-installed with a creepy AI assistant called IRIS (sorry Siri, maybe another time). Such a small tweak of a all so familiar device can much such a huge difference in bringing terror!
Many people would say that some elements of the game feel a little corny. While that is true, the way they are implemented is so skillful, that those elements actually come to life. There are witches, cults, human sacrifices, and short videos reminiscent of The Ring, but Sara Is Missing can actually make you jump out of your seat. Especially when it messes with its own interface or the established rules: when the screen glitches, or when IRIS expresses more desires than Siri. It is definitely worth a try!
Sara Is Missing: A worthwhile new horror game
Sara Is Missing is a short game, so you definitely should give it a try. Some of the horror elements will surely lingers!
