Recently, research company Nielsen has carried out and publish the annual survey about the most anticipated Holiday 2016 games. There are some very interesting results.
Most anticipated Holiday 2016 games: Different choices for different platforms
There are many factors to be considered for this survey, such as awareness, purchase interest, and consumer ratings. And the value is categorized into 4 groups: average anticipation (50%), above average anticipation (70-79%), very strong anticipation (80-89%), and extremely high anticipation (90-100%). For multi-platform games, such as Battlefield 1, the average score of the values from each platform is used.
According to the result, in multi-platform category, two shooters game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 share the top spot with 96% each as the most anticipated Holiday 2016 games. Following right behind is Final Fantasy XV (95%), the long awaited JRPG game from Square Enix. Rounding out the top anticipated multi-platform games are Batman: Return to Arkham (83%), Mafia 3 (83%), Dead Rising 4 (79%), Titanfall 2 (77%), and Watch Dogs 2 (75%).
For platform-exclusive games, Gears of War 4 is the most anticipated Holiday 2016 games for Xbox One with 99%, meanwhile for PS4, Batman: Arkham VR is the game people most early wait for, at 95%. Paper Mario: Color Splash tops the list for Wii U games (92%). For the big market of PC, Civilization 4 (94%) took the top spot. On the less popular 3DS, Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon share top 2 spots (9% and 98% respectively), and for the PS4’s sibling, the PlayStation Vita, Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors tops the chart at 89%.

For the survey, 6000 people from the age of 7-54 has participated, from August 21 to Sep 24. The survey results clearly showed different tastes on different platforms, but ultimately Shooter games are still the hot fuzz right now, with 2 games at the top of multi-platform games.
