PuzzlePhone is a modular smartphone that has come true and been drawing a lot of attention from people, especially on Indiegogo, the largest global site for fundraisers. And immediately you may think PuzzlePhone will go head to head with Google Project Ara, also a smartphone that has modules.

PuzzlePhone – Project Ara’s rival!

It is expected that the very first modular smartphone in the world Fairphone 2 will be launched in the upcoming December but at the moment, we are not sure if the first place would be changed. Mobile market is going to welcome another similar modular handset called PuzzPhone.  Previously, there were some times we heard about it yet everything was not as clear as now when the prototype has been revealed.

Though Google is the first one to conduct the project of making a modular handset, they cannot be able to release their commercial product as well as a specific Project Ara launch date. Meanwhile, PuzzlePhone coming from a Finnish company is on the way and absolutely will be a direct competitor to the Ara.

As we know, a modular phone is made up with multiple pieces that can be upgraded, swapped or replaced when necessary. So is the PuzzlePhone. It has three pieces known as Brain, Spine, and Heart. The ‘brain’ part consists of a processor, a camera, RAM, and ROM; the ‘spine’ is the structure with a screen; the ‘heart’ power the whole machine with a battery and secondary electronics.

PuzzlePhone features a 5-inch Full HD display, an unidentified 64-bit octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM, 16/32/64 GB ROM, and a 2,800mAh battery. In terms of camera, its rear one is capable of 12 megapixels while there is no detail for the front. Besides, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be the operating system, which will make it one the first new phones available with this latest OS out of the box.

At this point, things have not been confirmed yet. However, don’t worry. In the few next weeks, the team behind the PuzzlePhone will let the world know what they’ve got with the production.
