Microsoft cuts 2300 jobs from Nokia’s mobile department
Microsoft, the owner of Windows series and many kinds of computer devices, has began their restructuring process in 2015. It seems in this busy market, when things do not go well, jobs get cut. However, this time, Microsoft fires a big number of Nokia employees. Therefore, what really happens? Do the Nokia employees not do well at their assigned jobs? Alternatively, is it Microsoft’s fault?
Microsoft begins their restructuring plan by cutting off 2300 jobs
Microsoft has been having difficulties with mobile sales ever since they released the Lumia series. Though many people raise the simplicity of Windows phones, other factors prevent them to make big hit in the market.
Lumia series do not earn much for the company
After acquiring Nokia back from 2014, Microsoft also acquired around 32000 Nokia employees. This big number means that if Microsoft is to cut more jobs, those employees will be the first. Recently, Microsoft has planned to close NOKIA Oyj, the department in Finland. This starts their restructuring plan of cutting 7800 jobs, mostly from Nokia mobiles.
What will happen to those Nokia employees
However, as Nokia is returning to the market next year, it seems there is not much to worry. Nokia has been a big name and reliable brand. Therefore, if a Nokia flagship marks its return, there are no doubt Nokia employees will eventually get their jobs back.
On a side note, Microsoft has just released another feature phone called Nokia 222. This phone display is a 2.4’’ screen. It has a 2MP camera and a dual sim version. Nokia 222 runs on the Series 30+ OS. Nokia 222 price in Philippines will be around PHP 1.7k.
You can take a look a some photos of Nokia 222 below. The feature phone is beautiful and absolutely a nice budget phone.
