Samsung and LG. Two Korean manufacturers. Two big names in the market. Two mobile companies to produce curved screens. Last year, Samsung released the first Edge screen smart phones in the world: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge & S6 Edge. LG had released its curved LG G Flex back in 2013 though. However, as the competition between the two company gets more heated, LG made a different move. That is using the Edge trademark on their smart phone names also. Will LG produce an LG G Edge in the future too?
The rumour comes up because of LG attorneys filing trademark names for their new device. The names are listed below
- Super Edge
- Dual Edge
- Upper Edge
- Dual Side Edge
- Side Edge
- Double Edge
- Two Edge
- G Edge
People are making their claims about LG’s seemingly aim on Samsung’s Edge series. Ironically, this is not the first time LG files some trademark regarding another company. Therefore, many have expressed their wonders about LG internal work.
However, if LG is indeed going to make an Edge smart phone, then why not? Recently we heard that LG’s very own NUCLUN 2 processor overpowers Samsung Exynos. Moreover, the chip is said to be not have any heating issue. If the next LG flagship is to have an Edge screen, NUCLUN 2 and OLED display, isn’t that the perfect combination?

On the other hand, if we look closely at the list of registered names, things such as Upper Edge and Super Edge sound entirely weird. It seems LG has not decided the design for their new curved screen phone yet. Additionally, Note Edge & S6 Edge from Samsung have far marked the Edge name into users mind. Will LG prevail?
Whether this is just some crazy move or a real plan from LG, it’s good if a new Edge screen handset is to be out. We need more powerful and unique devices in the market. What’s left is LG’s marketing project. Moreover, “LG G Edge” seems nice enough, and can follow LG G Flex well.
