Lenovo Vibe K5 Review: A very good budget smartphone

Lenovo has released two versions of the Vibe K5 in April, 2016: he base model and the Plus model. Today, in this Lenovo Vibe K5 review, we’ll have a look back on the base model, what’s good about it and its shortcomings.

Lenovo Vibe K5 review: The good

Obviously, pricing is always one of the good things about budget phones. It is priced at roughly 6,000 Pesos (approx. $129). It also supports dual SIM. The screen is also moderately big: 5.0-inch IPS LCD screen with 720p resolution display, a very good one for a budget phone. Also, in this Lenovo Vibe K5 review, we want to highlight that, this phone has noise cancellation with a dedicated second microphone, and rear-firing stereo speakers. We don’t see that on budget phones often.

In this section of Lenovo Vibe K5 review, we will focus on internal specs. This phone houses octa-core Snapdragon 415 chipset, with Adreno 405 GPU. It also comes with 2GB RAM; enough for your normal daily use, but it wouldn’t be sufficient f you want to play big games. It has a battery of 2,750mAh capacity, and the important thing is, it is removable. As for camera, the Lenovo Vibe K5 sports a 13MP, f/2.2 rear camera, and a 5MP, f/2.8 front camera. It also has almost all the good technology, like LTE (Cat.4). Overall, those specs look really good for a budget smartphone.

Lenovo Vibe K5 review: The not-so-desirable and final verdict

In this part of the Lenovo Vibe K5 review, we will look at things that could have been better. First is the Operating System (OS). This phone still comes equipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and it is likely will stay on that OS for its whole life cycle. No Marshmallow is really a bump, although you can look past that: Lollipop is not a bad OS. Then, this phone comes with 16GB internal storage, extendable by up to 32GB, so 48GB total. That’s not large, but once again, it’s a minor annoyance that can also be looked past. Overall, considering the price, Lenovo Vibe K5 is a good phone to have, if you’re tight on budget.
