Huawei, the third largest smartphone OEM in the world, is drawing huge attention with their current project. Reports from reliable sources are suggesting that the company is working on an exclusive mobile OS in order to minimize their reliance on Google’s Android….
New Huawei mobile OS: having Apple and Nokia joining the game
Huawei is known as the biggest smartphone producer in China (despite ranking 2nd after Xiaomi sometimes) and the third-largest worldwide. They have impressive sales report with huge smartphone units shipped every year. And they don’t plan to stay just that. Huawei even targets to beat Apple and Samsung in the international competition. In order to get closer to that, the company needs to find a good way to enter bigger market outside China and Asia, like the US and other major EU markets.
For right now, Huawei flagships are operating mainly on the company’s hardware. However, they put some Android implementation and some Apple’s iOS inspiration on it. For example, Huawei P9, one of the most powerful smartphones to date, gets EMUI 4.1, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but also feels really close to Apple’s iOS. This doesn’t really satisfy many users as well as tech lovers. Therefore, Huawei is working to improve their EMUI Android skin. But more importantly, the company is also believed to be producing a new mobile OS of their own in order to rely as little on Google as possible.
In order to make the best OS possible for future Huawei flagships, rumors have it said that Huawei have hired Abagail Brody, former Apple designer. More interestingly, former Nokia engineers are also said to be part of the Huawei team that are taking responsibility for this new mobile OS.
Huawei + Nokia = best selling combination?
Nokia is surely remains as a best selling brand name in the world. By working together with Nokia former engineers, is it a business strategy of Huawei in order to attract public attention? Because after all, Huawei said that, further information about their proprietary new mobile OS is still a secret well kept up till now. (Source)
