The hype for foldable phones has not stopped yet. This time, Huawei company announces that the manufacturer is going to release a foldable phone to catch up with other brands like ZTE and Samsung! Read the article to learn more.

Huawei company plans to release a foldable phone

The Chinese manufacturer recently released its newest series, the Huawei Mate 10 series, and has earned a lot of attention from the Android community users. This time, the company has revealed its exciting plans for next year. According to CNET, Huawei is currently working on a foldable phone. Moreover, the customers can expect the phone is going to hit the market as early as 2018. This phone can be a direct competitor to the upcoming Samsung’s foldable phone, the Samsung Galaxy X.

According to Richard Yu, Huawei CEO, the company actually has a “working sample” of its upcoming foldable handset. However, this device still need a lot of improvements in its mechanical design. The company wants a phone with “better, more flexible screen technology” to compete with Samsung’s upcoming device. According to Richard Yu, in its current form, the foldable Huawei handset packs two screens with a “small gap” between them. “That’s not good”, says Yu, “and we should get rid of that gap.”

At the moment, the first foldable phone on the market is the ZTE Axon M unveiled last week. The handset features two 5.2-inch screens with the same 1080p Full HD resolution. Therefore, combining two displays, we have a phone with 6.8-inches diagonally and offers 1920 x 2160 pixels resolution. The problem with the ZTE Axon M is that, when its two displays close to form a single, there’s a big gap in the middle. As a matter of fact, that’s the gap which the Huawei company wants to get rid.
