Huawei filed a patent for a new bezel-less smartphone design
Back in February, Huawei has filed a patent for a bezel-less smartphone design with an extremely high screen-to-body ratio. Perhaps we are going to see the debut of this model soon. Keep reading for more details!
Huawei got a patent for bezel-less smartphone design
Until now, the P20 series represents the closest Huawei has gotten to a bezel-less design. Nevertheless, the company is still aiming to improve and innovate its design and technology. Thus, Huawei filed a patent for a bezel-less smartphone design not long ago. The patent in question, which goes way back in February, describes a unique build process that would avoid any unnecessary side bezels.
Instead of using the typical device frames on current smartphones, the Chinese company would start off the overall build with the rear panel, which accommodates the display. Once doing so, the display would be on top of the panel and get sealed down with adhesive. Then it would stay in between two metal strips on either side, which ultimately replace current smartphone frames. As a result, there is an extremely high screen-to-body ratio.
In addition to the design advantages, Huawei notes that the process won’t bring any compromises either. In fact, due to the use of high-quality adhesives, smartphones can continue to be water and dust resistant. Besides, it would also avoid any potential bends in the construction thanks to the use of high-strength materials in the rear panel.
Huawei’s new bezel-less smartphone release date
It’s still unclear when the company plans on introducing the design process to its smartphones. Despite Huawei’s claim of no disadvantages, the fact that the side strips stuck on with adhesive suggests it could potentially be a weak point in the device’s design if users accidentally drop it. Other than that, stay tuned with us for further updates!
