Sony 3D Creator brings 3D Selfies for Xperia XZ and XZ1 series!

Back in 2017, Apple released the iPhone X flagship with a custom animated 3D characters under the name animoji. Not long after, Samsung jumps on the bandwagon with their version of AR Emoji. Now, it seems like Sony is slowly catching up to the trend. At the MWC 2018 event, the Japanese manufacturer has unveiled their successors of the XZ1 series: Sony Xperia XZ2. Moreover, the Sony flagship also arrives with another mini version: Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact.

However, the most memorable feature of these two new Sony phones was the 3D Creator application. So what does this app do? In details, it allows you to take a 3D scan of a person’s head or objects. Moreover, you can create a very accurate 3D image from your scan. Additionally, this feature is built using Sony’s in-house “MotionEye” technology. After the Sony Xperia XZ2, Sony has finally issued the update of this app on other Sony handsets as well.

Based on the list, we can see that there are the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Sony Xperia XZ1 phones, including the compact version. Once installed, you can capture “super-fast” 3D selfies and then share them directly to Facebook or even 3D print them. Additionally, Sony 3D Creator output is now more detailed. Mainly, the feature now has more definition, thanks to the post-scan cloud processing rendering your 3D scans in 4K textures.
