A new horror game is developed by BioShock veterans!

A team of BioShock developers (well, now ex-developers) have teamed up and created Deep End Games, a new indie game developer in Boston. Now, the team has finally announced its first project ever, a horror game with the name Perception. Even though it’s still early, the premise and settings of the game sure look and sound interesting. What’s more, there will be no guns or magic, just a game of hide and seek where you have to make use of the environment to hide from the threats!

Perception will have you play as a blind woman, named Cassie Thornton, 29 years old. In the game, she must make her way through a mansion called Echo Bluff in Gloucester, Mass. The said mansion is occupied by an unknown entity named “the presence”. In a very creepy way, the “presence” is always surrounded by moths, and is always searching for you. The only tools you have are a walking stick and a smartphone, plus your hearing (remember, you’re a blind person in this game). Every tap of the stick, or any sound made will illuminate a visualization of the world around you.

The game will span across different chapters in different areas, each of which will explain the terrible happenings at the mansion. Players will have to complete these, and once they are done, they will travel back in time. The mansion will change form, from its geometry to the people and creatures living inside it. Overall, the game, as the developer describes, is heavily narrative-driven. So, we can expect a good story behind it.

New horror game: Good premise

So far, what have been revealed about Perception looks really interesting. The game is slated to be available for launch some time this year, on PC, with future plans for PS4 and Xbox One.
