While new update means new features, Android users might not be happy about Google Android P dropping the support for older applications. Read on for more details!
Google Android P to stop supporting older apps after update!
According to the media, many developers have found a new class in the latest Google Android P Preview. With a minimum API version, the new operating system pops up a warning message occasionally: ” This app was built for an older version of Android and may not work properly. Try checking for updates, or contact the developer.” For now, Google Android P has the current minimum API of 17, which is the Jelly Bean 4.2.
Previously, Google has shown their commitment to bringing the Play Store application up to date. The US company did this by setting a minimum API support requirements for newly update apps. As a result, all the recent submitted applications can run on the latest Android operating system version. However, the already available one that fails the upgrade might drop right after.
The same situation had happened before to iPhone users. Apple usually cleaned their App Store from old apps. If you were trying to start the app from your iPhone iCloud backup, there is a high chance that you are going to receive a pop-up warning message. On the other hand, Google Android P seems to be focusing mainly on the apps. Based on the latest review, the new operating system can disable apps from using your phones’ microphone in the background. Notably, this new feature arises from reports of social media apps like Facebook or WhatsApp using your smartphone’s microphone to listen to your conversations. Additionally, we can expect Google Android P to arrive with new look and shortcut. In details, the usual notification drawer is going have rounded corners. As a result, you now can reply to messages directly from here. Finally, the messaging apps also equip “Smart Replies”, images and stickers in the notification box.
