Android P beta 2 with APIs and official SDK
A month after releasing the first beta version of Android P, Google has just announced the Beta 2 of its upcoming mobile operating system. The update is available to users registered in Google’s developer program, who have access to a Pixel device. Those who’ve already downloaded the Beta 1 will get the new version automatically. Furthermore, the update comes with the final APIs and official SDK. So app developers can get to work adapting their creations to the next Android version.
Here are some of the changes it is going to arrive. As you may already know, Android P comes with native support for screen notches of varying shapes and sizes; possibly signifying that at least one 2018 Google Pixel will have such a feature. Smart replies setting is directed to third-party apps. And the new OS version has a manageable dialogue to prompt users for any supported type of biometric authentication.
Besides, Adaptive Battery option uses machine learning to prioritise system resources for the apps you care about the most. App actions use machine learning to surface apps at just the right time, based on that app’s semantic intents and the context. Slices surface rich, templated content cards in Google Search and Assistant, interactively. New multi-camera APIs let developers access streams simultaneously from two or more cameras. This enables third-party apps to create seamless zoom, bokeh, and stereo vision, depending on the hardware available.
Android P beta 2 release date
The Android P beta 2 is an over-the-air software update if you’re already running the first beta. As mentioned above, the update should start rolling out soon for Pixel devices. According to a company’s rep, partner OEMs that are participating in the Android P beta program will get the second version on their devices “in the coming weeks”.
