Galaxy S8 durability test: Is it durable enough?
Jerry Rig Everything is a famous YouTube channel, mostly known for the “torturing” of smartphones. They usually put the latest phones in extreme test conditions to see how long it can last. This time, the “victim” is the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy S8. Like tradition, the test will start with a scratch endurance. Different Mohs picks were used in this first stage. Samsung Galaxy S8 uses a Gorilla Glass 5, and it scratches at level 6. That is a result that falls in line with our expectation of the Galaxy S8 durability in the screen department.
The earpiece grille can be seen after the first test, which is made from metal. Its position, however, is a little bit strange. At the back, we know that the camera of S8 protrudes a little. The ring in that protruding part is also made from metal, as can be seen after the first stage. The flash is put under the back glass. After the first test, came the second test: burning. In this test, Galaxy S8 truly shines, as it can take in a lot of heat to leave a mark on the phone. You can watch the video below for more details.
The final steps of the Galaxy S8 durability test is the infamous bending test. The phone also proves to be very durable in this test, which, according to the tester, “there is almost zero flex to this thing”. No seals are being broken, even under a lot of pressure. So, overall, durability will not be a concern for Galaxy S8 buyers. However, the glass does still shatter if dropped hard, so keep that in mind. The phone is still considered a “glass sandwich” after all.
